Things to Think About When Adopting a Pet

Adopt a Pet Today!

Adopting a pet saves the life of a dog or cat that currently lives in an animal shelter. Each year in the United States alone, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized because too few people adopt from shelters.

Before you Adopt…

If your looking to buy a pet as a gift for a birthday or holiday season make sure the recipient is mentally ready to own a pet. Owning a pet is a lot of responsibility that should not be taken lightly. If you rent, make sure your landlord allows pets.

Before you adopt make sure you are financially stable. Pets are not cheap and will take a lot of time and energy.

Where to adopt…

Adopting a pet is much less expensive than buying a pet at a pet store. At Caddo Parish Animal Services adoption fees for all dogs and cats are $50. With that $50 your adopted pet is already vaccinated, fixed, and micro-chipped! Caddo Parish Animal Service is open Monday through Friday from 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. And if your not sure as to what type of pet you would like, go to their website. There you can find their online look book for all of the cats and dogs at the shelter.

Once you adopt your furry friend, go take a road trip!
