The Shreveport Downtown Artwalk is cancelled for July

The biggest Artwalk in the region is back!

UPDATE: Due to concerns of the increase of COVID-19, the ‘Lite’ Artwalk has been cancelled. On the first Thursday of every month, bring the family to enjoy the Shreveport Downtown Artwalk. This free and fun event kicks off on July 2, 2020 at 5:00 pm and ends at 10:00 pm. Because of the Coronavirus, the June version of this event will be a ‘Lite’ version consisting of two locations: the new C&C Mercantile & Lighting and the Shreve Towne Studio 512. For more info, check out the event on Facebook. At Shreve Towne Studio 512, witness the opening of a new exhibition titled “Black Lives Matter: Strength and Solidarity.” Plus celebrate the grand opening of C&C Mercantile & Lighting.

Every month will feature a different area of downtown. Sometimes it’s near the Red River District and the casinos. Another time might be around Shreveport Common or the Marlene Yu Museum or artspace on the west side. Maybe you’ll get to walk the southern section of downtown near Agora Borealis and Red River Brewing Company.

There are usually around 10 businesses per Artwalk that will be happy for you to come by and see everything. You’ll experience historic buildings and see what’s being done to bring new life and new opportunities to the area. Each location will have a few local artists. Chat with them and if you see something you like, pick it up and support the arts community.

Listen to “History in 5” where the Downtown Development Authority will talk about the history of a downtown building. Try your hand “Sketching the City” with the help of the Shreveport chapter of the American Institute of Architects. You will always hear great music as you stroll around the walk. Hungry? Find the food trucks and pick up a snack or enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants downtown. There will be no “History in 5” for the month of July.

Free parking is available around all of the destinations. The parking meters are free after 5:00 pm. Check out other free parking options before each event.

There are a number of ways you can keep up with the Shreveport Downtown Artwalk. Follow them on FacebookTwitterInstagram , and their website.

While you’re downtown, grab a drink at one of these destinations.
