Even though a major issue suppresses National Travel and Tourism (thanks Coronavirus), the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau continues on. They promote the great things going on in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Including the Shreveport-Bossier Comeback!
National Travel and Tourism Week runs from May 3-9. In 2020, the theme is Shreveport-Bossier Comeback and is designed to financially assist members of the tourism industry including restaurants, attractions, casinos, hotels and more. The bureau is teaming up with the United Way to make this happen. Those who can are encouraged to make a donation to the Shreveport-Bossier Hospitality Fund. According to the press release, Dr. Bruce Willson, Jr., president and CEO of United Way says, “This partnership between United Way and Shreveport-Bossier Tourist and Convention Bureau will hopefully assist individuals and families from falling off a financial cliff.”
Because of the pandemic, many events and rallies simply will not happen this year. “Although we can’t meet in person, we can stay connected, unified and supportive of one another from afar while rallying around the spirit of travel. We anticipate a robust comeback for our community,” said Stacy Brown, president of The Tourist Bureau.
Another way to show support is adopting the SB Comeback Facebook frame or downloading local backgrounds for your Zoom and Videoconference backgrounds. Download some SB Tourism bingo cards to play or have fun with digital jigsaw puzzles. All of these ideas can be found here.
