The Stage Center is gearing up for their 10th Anniversary Mainstage Season! They will kickoff the season with two award winning musicals, Spring Awakening and The Little Mermaid (Junior Edition). You can catch these performances by streaming on personal devices or go to the in-person watch parties at Central Artstation.
According to the Press release, Spring Awakening is a heart-pounding score. A heartrending story. A barrier-breaking fusion of morality, sexuality, and rock&roll. No wonder Spring Awakening has awakened audiences like no other musical in years. The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical! Based on the infamous 1891 Frank Wedekind play and featuring an original score by Grammy-nominated recording star Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, Spring Awakening is a story of uncontrollable emotions and undeniable passions, of first loves and lasting regrets. Haunting and electrifying, the show celebrates the unforgettable journey into adulthood with a power and a poignancy that you will never forget. Spring Awakening contains mature content. Discretion is advised.
The Tony-winning best musical with music by Duncan Sheik, book/lyrics by Steven Sater, and based on the play by Frank Wedekind. The event was captured on location in NWLA over 6 weeks, but you can watch it by streaming to your favorite device or come to a watch party at Central Artstation, which will also include some live performances of select songs from the show, featuring the four principal actors.
Spring Awakening begins Friday April 16 and runs through Sunday April 18. Four viewing opportunities are available. Tickets are $20 to attend the watch party and $40 per household if you would like to stream.
The Little Mermaid Junior Edition
Get ready to flip your fins for a “Positoovity” good time! Go “Under the Sea” with Ariel and friends in Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., adapted from Disney’s Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories. This show is fun for all ages!
From the Press Release: in a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, make a deal with the evil sea witch, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.
The Little Mermaid Jr. starts Friday April 30 and runs through Sunday May 2. Four performances only! Tickets are $15 to attend the watch party and $30 per household if you would like to stream from anywhere! Tickets go on sale April 12.
