See behind-the-scenes of artists workspaces

Ever wonder how artists create their masterpieces? On Saturday, March 9, you can tour Northwest Louisiana artist studios to see how the magic is made. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) presents this artists’ workspaces tour every year in March as part of their Culture Crush week.

According to SRAC Marketing Director Casey Jones, “artists can show the public behind the veil of the art and see exactly what goes into making art.” This year he expects between 50-75 artists to participate.

You can find a map of the Shreveport-Bossier art studios on their website a few days before the tour. For artists outside of the metro area, there will be a list accompanying the map. Then you can drive to each studio. Meet the artist. You can purchase work. Plus, learn a few things about the artist. Several artists will be joining together in a couple of interesting locations.

If you don’t want to drive all over the cities, SRAC is offering a trolley service that will stop at many Collectable Artists’ workspaces. There is a charge of $40 to ride the trolley unless you commit to become a SRAC Local Art Collector.

While you’re out and about, share on your social media what you see. And if you see something you really like, go ahead and buy it.

The Artist Studio Tours wraps up Culture Crush Week for SRAC. Walk the Downtown Shreveport Artwalk on Wednesday, March 6. Stop by the Collectible Artists Exhibition at Central ARTSTATION (801 Crockett). Also check out the exciting Critical Mass exhibitions that start on Tuesday, March 5 and continues through Thursday, March 8.
