Christian music singer-songwriter and Louisiana native Lauren Daigle steps up to give back to her home state. The Grammy-winning artist announced a virtual relief concert to benefit Hurricane Laura victims on Oct. 11.
“When I was kid, growing up in Louisiana, we were plagued by hurricanes,” Daigle said in a Facebook post announcing the concert. “I know first-hand the devastation they bring. With everything going on in the world right now, I want to invite you to join me in loving on those effected [sic] by the hurricanes who have lost their homes and so much more.”
The hurricane, which made landfall Aug. 27, displaced thousands of families and left an estimated $10 billion in damages in its wake.
In an accompanying Facebook video announcing the virtual performance, Daigle said she hopes the concert spreads more awareness for Hurricane Laura victims. She cited “everything else that’s going on in the world” as a reason she feels the “catastrophic” devastation isn’t receiving enough media coverage.

Daigle’s foundation, The Price Fund, has partnered with The Salvation Army and American Red Cross to donate all proceeds from the streaming concert to support those impacted by the hurricane.
The intimate set will feature a brand new song, as well as familiar hits, including “You Say,” “Rescue” and more. The Orpheum Theater plays host to this intimate concert.
The broadcast will premiere on live-streaming platform Veeps.com at 7 p.m. CST on Sunday, Oct. 11, and it will be available to watch for 48 hours after.

The artist also released rescheduled dates for her “Lauren Daigle World Tour”. A tour originally set to stop in New Orleans on July 19 before coronavirus cancellations.
Tour dates are now scheduled to launch again starting in February 2021, with a Lafayette tour stop at the Cajundome on March 26.
Folk/soul duo JOHNNYSWIM will join Daigle on the tour.
