Historic Fame Studios Has Created a Sound All Its Own

Go inside the 'Birthplace of the Muscle Shoals Sound'

Some of the biggest names in music have descended on the small town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama to record at a music studio with a sound all its own. Historic Fame Studios is known as the “Birthplace of the Muscle Shoals Sound.” It is described as a mash-up of country, rock and soul, with an emphasis on the kickdrum and the bass.

The list of artists who have recorded at Fame Studios is a who’s who of music stardom. Starting with Jimmy Hughes, Otis Redding, Little Richard, and Aretha Franklin, all the way up to more recent acts like The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell, Demi Lovato and everyone in between.

Host Molly McKinney met up with Co-Owner Rodney Hall to hear Fame’s story, and even lay down a track of her own.

If your travels take you to the Alabama gulf coast, plan your visit by going to the historic Fame Studios website.
