The 30th Annual Auction Against AIDS goes “Diamonds and Pearls” on Saturday, August 17. Enjoy a night of glitz and glamour with local art, silent auction items and contests. You might feel like your at Tiffany’s. But actually you’ll be at Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
During “Diamonds and Pearls” participate in contests and raffles. With the theme, of course there’ll be a jewelry raffle. Another raffle will be Central Station’s “Holly Golightly’s Barrel of Booze” a barrel full of wine, liquor and beer. The silent auction contains items from local artists as well as products and services from small businesses. Music will be provided by That Girl DJ and The Beauties of 1025 will bring guests the showgirls of the 60’s.
“Diamonds and Pearls” is a main fundraiser for The Philadelphia Center. According to their press release, “The Philadelphia Center developed in the spring of 1990 as concerned citizens responded to the HIV/AIDS epidemic as it spread into the Shreveport area of Louisiana. Our mission is to Empower those living with HIV, to Eliminate new HIV transmissions, and to Enhance community health. Funds from the Annual Auction Against AIDS provide general and programmatic support for programs such as our Mobile Testing Unit and Mercy Center, our residential program for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.” Learn more about The Philadelphia Center here.
