Classical music with classical literature: Drive Up Concerts

We’ve seen a number of pop up drive in movies and concerts since the reopening from Covid shutdown. Now the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and Shreve Memorial Library are coming together for four FREE classical drive up concerts featuring the SSO’s Brass Quintet and String Quartet. The size of the parking lot at each library branch determines how many people can attend yet each performance is free and open to the public. These free concerts take place every Tuesday in May.

Schedule of Classical Drive Up Concerts…

May 11 at 5:00pm at West Shreveport Branch, 4380 Pines Road (String Quartet)

May 14 at 4:00pm at Broadmoor Branch, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive (Brass Quintet)

May 21 at 4:00 pm at David Raines Branch, 2855 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive (Brass Quintet)

May 27 at 4:00pm at Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, 2111 W. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop (String Quartet)

Everyone who attend these drive up classical concerts is encouraged to remain in their vehicles. Or you may sit in appropriately social-distanced spaces. Bring some snacks and have a picnic while listening to great classical music or check out some classical literature from the library to read while they play. For more information, find it on the Shreve Memorial Library website.
