SHREVEPORT, La. (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) - My favorite book is by Octavia Butler. It’s called Kindred. And the reason why it’s such a favorite book of mine is I think most of the books that I like to read tend to lean on the sci fi side. Kindred is basically it takes place in a post-apocalyptic times. But she puts a twist to it where you have aliens and it’s really interesting.
And she is an author in her own right, where back in her era there weren’t very many black sci fi writers and she was one of the ones to kind of kind of make a staple into it, to show that that she was creative and she could think outside the box. And so reading her books are definitely like a journey or a fantasy. So it’s a little bit of, you know, what I like about a book when I choose fiction.
