SHREVEPORT, La. (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) - So I have a bunch of favorite books because of course I have a nine and a five year old. I’m busy doing Diary of a Wimpy Kid, that whole series with Sydney and of course, anything Dinosaurs or Dr. Seuss, which Chandler. But my all time favorite book, I would say has to be Eyes on the Prize. Juan Williams wrote it and it’s about black history and ending racism and segregation back in the civil rights era.
Well, I was introduced to Eyes on the Prize during middle school when I was a part of a Black History Brainbowl competition. It was one book that we had to know in and out, out of about eight books, and I was really fond of the book and the black history and the culture that it told the struggles to end racism and segregation and to see about all of the leaders and the trail that they blazed so that I would have a seat at the table.
