The Christmas season kicks off in Texarkana on Monday

A tree, a train and a Traditional Jamaican Christmas Meal all on one day

TEXARKANA (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) - The twin cities festivities go into high gear on Monday, December 5. Everything starts at 5:00pm with the Christmas Market. Stop in at Kress Gap at 116 W. Broad Street to see and shop lots of local vendors. Watch a traditional Jamaican Christmas Meal being prepared. Following at 7:00pm, catch the 38th Annual Christmas Parade hosted by Main Street Texarkana. “All Aboard the T-Town Express” celebrating trains will be the theme. Speaking of trains, the KCS Holiday Express makes its stop in Texarkana on Monday. If you want to visit Santa and his elves on the train, park at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park on West 12th Street and ride the shuttle to the railyard.

Don’t forget to stop by and see the twenty foot Paramount Pine Christmas tree. It’s back by the Federal Courthouse after years on the Texas side. From the press release, “Texas City Manager David Orr and Arkansas City Manager Jay Ellington commented on the cities coming together this holiday season. “The Christmas tree is such a significant part of the holidays and we felt it was a great way to symbolize our collaborations together,” said Orr. “It only made sense to put it back on the Stateline.” “We won’t pass up any chance to join forces in making our downtown community come to life,” said Ellington. “The holidays provide the perfect time to come together.”
