A new Performance Pavilion is ready to entertain

It’s been a decade in the making

SHREVEPORT, La. (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) - A new phase of construction at the Caddo Common Park is coming to an end with the opening of the Performance Pavilion. This beautiful black and white center adds a new element of art to this “Un”common community. When the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) moved into the neighborhood, they were charged with transforming a rough part on the edge of downtown into a vibrant area. Back in 2012, artists, neighborhood community members and SRAC came together to discuss adding the Performance Pavilion.

Architect Mike McSwain created the design of the building. At first the pavilion was going to be brightly colored but the decision was made to go black and white according to Casey Jones, SRAC Marketing Director. “We really think that the performance, the performers will bring the color to the space.”

Keep your eyes open for events soon. SRAC will be programming events for the pavilion. The first show is Shreveport’s Seratones on November 12, 2022. But there’s going to more than music. Jones says, “It’s also going to be for smaller things like exercise days or, you know, potluck, there’s yoga, there’s smaller performances, there’s theater.”
