Ideas to make your yard beautiful at the Bulb Sale

Flowers and plants perfect for our area

BOSSIER CITY, La. (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) - Twice a year, the Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners host a Plant and Bulb Sale. The Fall event occurs on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 8:00am - Noon. This time, the sale takes place at a new location: the big red barn at the LSU Ag Center Research Station. Find it south of Bossier City on US Highway 71.

This event allows you to buy bulbs of plants that are suited to grow in this part of the country as well as continuously grow and bloom. Some of the bulbs for sale include Alliums, Amaryllis, Daffodils, Sparaxis and Asiatic Lilies to name a few. See more of the list here.

This year features several new activities in addition to plant sales. First, Advance Master Gardener Mary Dumars will be presenting an educational seminar at 10:00am. Find out the difference between a true bulb and corms and tubers. Second, the Shreveport Biscuit Company Food Truck plans to be on site from 7:30am - 11:00am to serve coffee and treats. Third, a few of the Master Gardeners have been working hard to create indoor gift plants to buy just in time for Christmas.

Master Gardeners go through extensive classroom learning and hands-on training in order to spread the good word about gardening. They’ve spent a lot of time cultivating the right bulbs and plants to not only make their gardens exciting and beautiful but can also help you grow that green thumb you’ve always wanted.
