Save a few bucks on supplies

SHREVEPORT, La. (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) -With inflation concerns lingering over every purchase, saving some money is more important now than ever.

August 6-7

August 5-7

Sales of any article of clothing or footwear designed to be worn on or about the human body and the sales price of the article is less than one hundred dollars ($100) are exempt. This does not apply to the sale of any accessories, special clothing or footwear primarily designed for athletic activity or protective use that is not normally worn except when used for athletic activity or protective use, or to the rental of clothing or footwear. Click here for full details.

August 5-7

Save money of tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100). This goes for certain types of clothing, footwear, school supplies, face masks, and backpacks. Click here for full details.

Please note that if you buy supplies online, make sure to check the delivery charge. Shipping, handling and delivery charges count towards the $100 limit. For example, you spend $96 on clothing and the delivery fee is $15. That fee adds to the total price which would make the total $111. Therefore, the product would not be eligible for tax exemption.

Louisiana does not currently have a sales tax holiday for school supplies.
