Over the past three Olympics, the Women’s National Volleyball team won two silvers and a bronze. Never have they won the gold yet many feel this team coming to town is the deepest and strongest team in a long time. Head coach Karch Kiraly is one of the superstars of volleyball. He’s won several Olympic medals and selected as the greatest volleyball player in the 20th Century by the FIVB.

This is truly one of the biggest sporting events to ever come to the Ark-La-Tex. It’s the first time ever that the Olympic qualifying tournament has been held on American soil. According to the CEO of USA Volleyball Jamie Davis, “This is the first time that the U.S. has been granted these rights by our international federation, the FIVB, and I am positive that the home-court advantage and the thousands of American fans cheering on Team USA will serve our squad well.”

Only six cities were selected to host and Bossier City is the only US city. Other tournaments are being staged on the same weekend in Poland, China, Brazil, Russia and Italy.
