Plans changed a little bit for this popular festival.
Hot air balloons will fill the sky in June. The 2020 CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally is changing its format for 2020. Instead of the traditional celebration on the campus of LSU-Shreveport, organizers are planning a weekend of balloon flyovers across downtown Shreveport and central Bossier City on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13. About a dozen area balloons will take part weather permitting in the Overflight. Winds and weather will determine the actual route of the Overflight. Keep up-to-date on their Facebook page before the balloons take flight.
“Although COVID-19 hijacked many of our spring and summer plans, our team and sponsors thought it would be best to offer our community a cheery sense of ‘feel good,’” said Kelly
Wells, executive director of Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “This overflight will give us all an opportunity to look into the sky and see brighter days ahead as we plan for 2021.”
For those in DeSoto Parish, fear not. Pilots will make a special flight at 7:00 am on Sunday, June 14. More details can be found on their website.
