The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra‘s 2019-2020 season is shaping up to be spectacular! Listen to Gershwin, Beethoven and Mozart in Shreveport. With newly remodeled digs, the RiverView Theater will surely be impressive. The new features include:

  • New and expanded patron restrooms
  • New theater seating in the orchestra level
  • Cosmetic upgrades in the theater and lobby, including wood paneling, new chandeliers and new finishes throughout
  • Updated VIP/Sponsor Bar area in the lobby
  • Outdoor-accessible box office
  • ADA Compliant updates in the lobby, theater and backstage areas
  • Newly refinished stage floor

Tchaikovsky’s 5th
Opening night at the RiverView kicks off with Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, Belioz’s Roman Carnival Overture and the world premier of Shreveport native James Eakin’s Cloudscraper Symphony.

A Gershwin Celebration
Pianist and host Richard Glazier presents a “fascinating insider’s exploration of the genius of George Gershwin”. Performances include Rhapsody in Blue and a concert version of Porgy & Bess featuring the Wiley College Choir.

Mozart and Schubert
Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead opens the evening with a film music suite from There Will Be Blood. Rising star Francisco Fullana will then present Mozart’s energetic and exotic Violin Concerto No. 5, followed by Shubert’s charmingly beautiful¬† Symphony No. 5.

Beethoven’s 7th Symphony
You’ll be transported to 1920’s Paris by jazz and Brazilian-inspired scores by Milhaud, brought to life by Grambling’s Orchesis Dance Company. Then celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth with his lively Symphony No 7, appropriately dubbed “The Apotheosis of the Dance”.

From the New World
Dvpral’s beloved “New World” Symphony is paired with a new multimedia¬† work by Grammy-nominated composer Peter Boyer that includes music, video projections and dramatic portrayals expressing the immigrant experience of Ellis Island.
