It’s one thing to drive and see the beauty of Red River Parish. It’s quite another thing to see it from the air. We traveled across the parish looking for incredible scenery.

Some Red River Parish facts…

9,091 people call the parish home according to the 2010 census which makes it the fourth-least populated parish in Louisiana.

Red River, Rapides, Sabine and Vermillion are the only parishes named after bodies of water in the state. LA Highway 1 and US Highway 71 flank the river and you can stop at some places to see the river in a quiet setting.

It was one of the last parishes to be created in 1871, combined from . Parts of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo and Natchitoches Parishes.

Coushatta is the largest city (population 1,964) and parish seat.

Other communities include: Crichton, East Point, Edgefield, Fairview Alpha, Grand Bayou, Hall Summit, Hanna, Harmon, Lake End, and Martin.

One of the most notable persons to hail from the parish is Vickie Johnson, WNBA All-Star and current Assistant Coach of the Las Vegas Aces.
