Mudbug Madness cancelled for 2020

UPDATE: Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, organizers have announced that the 2020 Mudbug Madness festival has been cancelled.  They hope to return on May 28-30, 2021. For over 35 years, Memorial Day weekend in Shreveport meant one thing: Mudbug Madness time! From humble beginnings, the festival is now one of Louisiana’s largest Cajun festivals. Awards keep piling up for Mudbug Madness including the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events. Not only will people from across the country come to consume crawfish in crazy amounts, but dance the night away to amazing Cajun, Zydeco, Jazz and Blues music.

The number one reason to go is the food! Over 20 vendors will be serving mudbugs in various recipes. Many host their own crawfish boil with the usual sides of corn and potatoes. Several food trucks will set up shop so all culinary desires will be sated.

Music is a mainstay of the event. Some of the headliners that performed in Festival Plaza for 2019 included Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, Shinyribs, Molly Ringwalds and Amanda Shaw.

Kids have a blast at the Kids on the Bayou. Slides, jumps and more await them.

In between eating and dancing, peruse the rows of arts and crafts vendors. You might even find some funky crawfish art to take home.

Festival hours are from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm each day. Admission is $5 for Friday after 5:00 pm and all day Saturday and Sunday. Those with a military ID get in for free.

You know it’s the start of summer when it’s Mudbug Madness time!
