When life gives you snow... make Snow Cream!
My good friend Toby clued me in and gave me this recipe. On the rare occasion that we see snow in the Ark-La-Tex, you can put the freezing water powder to some good use. Use it to make this Snow Cream recipe. This is a fun thing to do with the kids and they can customize it by adding more flavors.
Ingredients
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
LOTS of snow
Directions
Mix condensed milk, sugar and extract together. Go outside and scoop several spoonfuls of snow into the bowl. Stir until you get a good soft ice cream consistency.
Feel free to add other flavorings to this Snow Cream recipe including almond extract, cocoa powder, grounded up pistachios or any other flavoring. You can even add some fruit juice! Check out that recipe here. Here’s another tip: avoid the yellow snow. 😉 Serve just like ice cream because that’s what this is.
If you’re reading this when the temperatures are about 32 degrees and have a craving for something similar, find the Streetcar Snoball food truck out and about.
As a bonus, there’s no electricity required for making this recipe…
