Where fur babies can have fun with Mardi Gras!
It’s a Mardi Gras parade for your pets! The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux parade is a short parade (only around a parking lot), but it’s full of fun. Plus it raises money for fantastic organizations around the area. Bring your cats and dogs to the old Marine Reeves location south of the Centurylink Center in Bossier City on Saturday, February 23 from Noon to 4:00pm. The 2019 theme is Steampunk.
The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux has been sponsored since 1999. Their mission is to develop, foster, and promote programs to benefit abused, neglected, and homeless animals. In addition, they want to inform and educate pet owners with public education about voluntary spay and neuter programs. They use the parade to promote charitable organizations like animal shelters in the Ark-La-Tex. Annually, the Krewe host several fundraisers for animal supported institutions as well teach classes about their mission and goal to be the voice for animals.
Some of the local organizations in the Ark-La-Tex that the Krewe partners with are Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue Mission and Robinson’s Rescue. They raise funds for Yogie and Friends Exotic Cat Sanctuary, help the Pet Education Project (P.E.P.) spread their mission of education to the youth, assist Ninna’s Road to rescue, Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, and For-ever Home Bloodhound Rescue – they assist many people with pet medical assistance and rescue groups with operation expenses.
If you want to become a sponsor, make a donation, or have any questions, you can email the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux at email@example.com.
