Mardi Gras comes with lots of fun activities and it all might be different this year, but here are some fun ideas to use those Mardi Gras beads that you have stored away in the back of the closet. Personal note… I always wash my beads before using them around my house.

PAINT

Create new artwork for your home by dipping beads in paint and dragging it across canvas. Use different sizes of beads to create different shapes. This lets you get really creative and is a great stress relief!

DONATE

I know I have a few boxes of beads that is just sitting in the closet. If you are decluttering, try donating your beads! Some organizations would love to reuse the throws. Some teachers even request your beads for teaching purposes.

DECORATE A TREE

Christmas has sadly come and gone, but if you need another reason to keep your tree up longer decorate it for Mardi Gras! Use Purple, Green and Gold, masks, and lots of beads to make your home feel like a parade!

ADD TO SLIME OR MAKE A SENSORY BOTTLE

The slime craze might be over (finally) but if you need a fun inside activity here you go! Slime is fun for kids and adding beads add an extra element of fun.  If you have younger ones you can create a sensory bottle by cutting up beads adding glitter and water to a bottle. Make sure to seal the top!

MAKE ART/ MOSAIC

Beads are great for art and it is a very easy craft! All you have to do is glue strands of beads to paper or foam board to create different images! You can go as large as you want.

DECORATE CLOTHES OR SHOES

We might not have parades this year but plan ahead and get your wardrobe ready for next year! Bling out a jacket and some shoes using beads, glitter, and other sparkly items for a one-of-a-kind outfit!

MAKE JEWELRY

All great outfits need jewelry, right?  Make some special accessories to wear throughout the Mardi Gras season. Twist some beads together to make a new necklace or cut them apart to make rings and earrings. If you feel like breaking out the glue gun, try gluing them to headbands for a fun head piece.

MAKE A WREATH

Let the Good Times roll by decorating your front door! To make a easy wreath you can glue beads to a foam ring for a very colorful wreath. If you already have a wrath you can always put beads in it to give it a Mardi Gras feel.

PUT IN A VASE

Decorate any centerpiece by adding beads to a vase. Use whatever colors you want to coordinate with a party or your home décor.

BEADED CHANDELIER OR COASTERS

Glue beads to cardboard for a creative and handy coaster. You can also find a old chandelier and give it new life by gluing beads to it and creating something beautiful! Spray paint any color to match your home.

DECORATE A GIFT

If you are giving a gift wrap a couple of beads for a fun and festive use and save ribbon. You can also tape them to packages that you are sending for a fun surprise!
