Foolproof Fried Pickles

The best way to make fried pickles.

Fried pickles are delicious. Luckily, they foolproof fried pickles are also easy to make.

Chef Anthony DiBernardo at Swig & Swine in Charleston, South Carolina has a simple recipe for turning pickle spears into a tasty fried delight.

INGREDIENTS:

Dill pickle spears

Seasoned all purpose flour (flour + pepper + paprika + cayenne pepper to taste)

4 Eggs

2 Tbsp. Milk

2 Tbsp. Cold water

Seasoned Italian bread crumbs

Frying oil

Salt

DIRECTIONS:

Bring frying oil to 375°. Put flour into a bowl. Mix eggs, milk and a little bit of cold water in a bowl. In another bowl, put in the bread crumbs. Place a few spears of pickles into the seasoned all purpose flour. Coat evenly. Dunk the spears into the egg wash. Lift spears out of egg wash and let excess drip off. Quickly put the spears into the bread crumbs and coat. Fry up the pickle spears. Just remember:  It will only take a couple minutes in the fryer for the spears to get their golden brown color. Right after you remove them from the fryer, dust them with some salt.
