Exotic Racing

The bugler will be calling more than just horses to post at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs during Independence Day weekend; they’ll be calling out for exotic racing at the track. In between the horse races, jockeys will race in the annual on top of camels and ostriches. The Kid’s Zone apron will have face painting and fun for all. The Harrah’s Club will be open during this action-packed event with a special all-you-can-eat-all-day buffet dining for $29.99 or dine at one of the food trucks. Horse racing fans will also enjoy a Special Race Card for the live thoroughbread racing to celebrate July 4. It’s one thing to watch the jockeys ride down the final stretch on a horse. It’s quite another to see them hanging on for dear life to the world’s largest bird trying to make it to the finish line.

The exotic racing activities aren’t the only wild animals racing at Louisiana Downs. Around Super Derby time enjoy the wiener dog races. These loveable four-legged fur babies delight everyone as they bolt out of the starting box. In between those races, kids can have fun on the track racing out of the gate.

The races start at 3:15pm at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. Follow along on Facebook. Come out and play!
