DIY: Adding events to the Community Calendar

In June 2020, we switched to a whole new system for our Community Calendar! Adding events is now easier! This new system offers better picture support and streamlines the process. If you have an event coming up, let us know! Follow these instructions and get noticed. If you add to the Ark-La-Tex Weekend calendar, it will auto update on the KSLA News 12 calendar (and vice versa).

We look at the calendar every week (usually on Tuesday) to see what’s coming up for the weekend for our Fun Things to Do story and video. Events on our calendar will be pulled first for the story.

Step 1

Click on the links to go to either the Ark-La-Tex Weekend or calendar page.

Click on Submit Event

Step 3

Fill out as much as you can. You only get four keywords/tags. Adding an image helps make your event stand out. The image will appear in the ‘Event Description’ box. You can type in your information there and move the picture around if you want. Under Event Location Type, you can select a physical street address, online event or both! As you type in a street address, the program does auto fill and offer suggestions and it will automatically produce a map.

Step 4

When you are done inputting the information, click on the green “Check and Submit” button at the top right of the page.

This takes you to a page that allows you to review your submission.

Step 5

If you’re happy, click on “Submit Event” or if you see something wrong, click on the “Back to Editor” button.We check the calendar for new submissions between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday-Friday to approve or reject. We reject duplicate submissions.
