In Partnership with the Southern Weekend

This party is on the water: Cross Lake Floatilla

Summer is here and it’s time for some Cross Lake Floatilla fun. The biggest boat party in the area happens in mid June. Admission is free but they are raising money for local charities that don’t get a lot of community support to function each year. Bring your boat and spend the day chilling on the water and making new friends. The fun grows from year to year and their looking for more boats to participate this year.

There are many events planned in addition to floating around Cross Lake. The pre-party is on Friday at Bayou Daiquiri. You can register for all of the Cross Lake Floatilla fun.

If you play cards, participate in the Poker Run for $20 a hand from 12:00pm-3:00pm. All hands must be turned in at Port au Prince Restaurant by 3:00pm.

Decorate your boat and enter the contest. Go all out to stand out and you can win cash prizes. $500 for 1st place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place. Registration is free and is going on between 11:00pm – 3:00pm. The contest parade sails at 3:30pm.

If you don’t have a boat… no problem. Enjoy the music by Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlaws and the boat parade from the shore. Come out to the headquarters at Port-au-Prince Restaurant at 5301 S. Lakeshore Drive in Shreveport. At dusk, watch the biggest fireworks ever for the Cross Lake Floatilla blast off over the lake. T-shirts, food and beverages will be available all day.

New for 2019 will be inflatable races and a bird exhibit from Walter B. Jacobs Park.
