Celebrate the music that makes Shreveport the place where music happens.
Shreveport’s music heritage and history is known around the world. For decades, Shreveport-Bossier was one of the centers for music around the country. Many great artists and music legends either were raised here or hit it big. Now everyone gets a chance to celebrate the music that gave Shreveport the reputation of being “The Cradle of Rock & Roll” and “The Bosom of the Blues.” The Annual Music Heritage Festival usually happens in late summer. The party will be at Festival Plaza with 2 stages and over 70 acts. The lineup includes rock and roll, gospel, blues, soul, and country music. Friday night is the awards ceremony. Admission is free for this family friendly event. Keep up with the festival and see next year’s lineup on their Facebook page.
The Ark-La-Tex Music Heritage Festival along with Shreveport Music will be collecting instruments. Donated instruments will be cleaned and repaired then given to area schools and music programs. Hopefully a future star will get their start right here in Northwest Louisiana.
The Ark-La-Tex Music Heritage Festival is not the only story to celebrate music on Ark-La-Tex Weekend. Check out this historic music center.
